Vinfen, in partnership with the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health (DMH) and the Massachusetts Mental Health Center (MMHC), is seeking a skilled and compassionate licensed clinician with specialized expertise in Mental Illness/Problematic Sexual Behavior (MI/PSB) treatment and assessment. The MI/PSB team is a well established, multidisciplinary team serving individuals with complex and high risk behavioral needs. The MI/PSB licensed clinician will provide comprehensive clinical services, conduct specialized assessments, and apply evidence-based treatment approaches to help individuals achieve meaningful and sustainable progress. The licensed clinician will also provide clinical consultation and guidance to colleagues and treatment teams, helping inform best practices, strengthen intervention strategies, and ensure assessment findings are accurately interpreted and translated into effective treatment plans. This position offers the opportunity to make a direct impact while working at the intersection of specialized clinical practice, behavioral health, risk assessment, and interdisciplinary care.  

A Harvard Medical School (HMS) appointment at the rank of Lecturer, Instructor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor would be commensurate with the candidate’s record of accomplishments, in addition to a commitment to teaching Harvard learners.  

- Provides outpatient individual MIPSB treatment as scheduled and directed by the client’s treatment plan. - Develops a clinical formulation and individualized treatment plan consistent with MIPSB treatment needs.  

• - Leads group therapy for individuals with MIPSB needs at MMHC.  

• - Serves as an active member of the MIPSB team at MMHC and participates in weekly team meetings.  

• - Assists, as requested, with MIPSB specific evaluations, including consultations, record reviews, and comprehensive assessments that identify treatment and risk management needs for individuals in the Metro Boston area who have been identified as having mental illness and problematic sexual behavior.  

• - Provides MIPSB specific care coordination, outreach, and engagement as needed.  

• - Collaborates with collateral service providers by inviting them to treatment planning and review meetings and coordinating informational meetings as appropriate. 

• - Contributes clinical perspectives to team meetings and remains available to team colleagues for emergency and planned client coverage.  

• - Provides clinical supervision to staff and trainees, as assigned.  

• - Provides MIPSB specific consultation and clinical support to the Homeless Outreach Team (HOT), ACCS programs, and case management services.  

• - Interacts with clients, staff, collateral providers, and others in a professional manner, treating all individuals with respect and courtesy.  

• - Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to develop, implement, review, and update treatment plans that address identified risk factors and prioritize client needs and clinical concerns.  

• - Responds promptly to emergency situations and takes appropriate action based on sound clinical judgment and in accordance with MMHC policies and procedures.  

• - Initiates and/or assists in the development and delivery of MIPSB specific in-service trainings for MMHC staff, DMH staff, and ACCS providers.  

• - Notifies the supervisor and other appropriate parties following critical incidents in accordance with agency policies and procedures.  

• - Fulfills all responsibilities and requirements associated with mandated reporting.  

• - Provides clinical support to supervisors, including attending clinical meetings, meetings, and presentations as requested.  

• - Brings system related concerns and problems to the immediate attention of the supervisor.  

• - Maintains accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation and complies with MMHC documentation standards and all applicable DMH, MMHC, third-party payer, legal, quality assurance, and utilization review requirements. 

• - Completes assigned responsibilities efficiently and within established deadlines and promptly notifies the supervisor of any barriers to meeting deadlines.  

• - Upholds the ethical standards and professional responsibilities of the clinician’s discipline.  

• - Immediately reports safety and security concerns to the supervisor.  

• - Teaching responsibilities are an expected component of this position, including participation in teaching and related educational activities as appropriate.  

• - For psychology applicants, as a member of the BIDMC psychiatry department, psychologists may be involved in the training of psychiatric residents. 

• - Attends required and recommended in-service trainings and actively develops MIPSB specific clinical expertise in collaboration with the supervisor.  

• - Provides coverage for other MIPSB staff as needed.  

• - Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications: 

• - License to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, with current licensure in social work, psychology, and/or mental health counseling. If not in psychology, independent licensure required (LICSW or LMHC, not LCSW) with at least three years of experience in a licensed practice preferred. • - Ability to make decisions, act quickly and maintain calm in crisis situations with people who are under emotional and/or physical stress and collaborate effectively with others in group situations. 

• - Able to provide program leadership and to apply/explain the impact of laws, rules, regulation, policies, protocols, guidelines, etc. on program operations. 

• - Knowledge of the ethical principles, and standards of practice treating individuals with serious mental illness.

• - Knowledge of best practices in the assessment and treatment of individuals with mental illness who exhibit problematic sexual behaviors and/or sex offending behaviors. 

• - Knowledge of policies, procedures, standards, rules and regulations governing assigned agencies.
