Overview

Summary:
Reporting to the Vice President of Real Estate, the Director of Safety and Security (DSS) will provide
enterprise-wide leadership and oversight of safety, security and emergency management programs
across a diverse portfolio of residential, clinical, administrative and community-based locations. The
role ensures that safety and security practices are trauma-informed, person-centered and minimally
intrusive while maintaining a strong focus on risk reduction and duty of care. Working closely with
Senior Management within Vinfen, the DSS is responsible for designing, implementing and continuously
improving a comprehensive system-wide program aligned with industry best practices and for managing
third-party security vendor contracts to ensure accountability, performance and alignment with
organizational expectations.

Responsibilities

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Establishes enterprise-wide standards for physical security systems, including access control, video
surveillance, intrusion detection and duress systems
• Develops and manages the annual operating and capital budgets for safety and security programs,
including contracted services and security technology investments
• Partners with IT and Facilities to align planning, selection and procurement of security systems and
technologies and to ensure systems are integrated and support operational needs
• Partners with Facilities to implement layered mitigation strategies such as access control, lighting and
alarms
• Partners with Finance and senior leadership to ensure cost-effective allocation of resources while
maintaining appropriate levels of risk mitigation coverage
• Provides financial forecasting, cost-benefit analysis and determine priority of security initiatives based
on risk and organizational impact
• Leads business continuity and emergency response initiatives across the organization
• Provides executive-level reporting on incidents, risks, trends and mitigation strategies
• Provides strategic oversight of internal stakeholders and contracted security providers to ensure
accountability, performance and alignment with organizational expectations
• Aligns program design with peer behavioral health and human services organizations and industry best
practices and address behavioral health-specific risks, including elopement and behavioral escalation
• Conducts enterprise risk assessments and vulnerability evaluations
• Maintains inspection and audit programs aligned with environment of care practices
• Provides subject matter expertise on security systems design, site planning and renovation projects
• Maintains awareness of emerging risks, regulatory changes and leading practices in healthcare and
behavioral health security
• Participates in relevant professional organizations and incorporate benchmarking insights into
program development
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Typical Requirements:
• Seven to ten years of progressive leadership experience in safety and security, including at least five
years in healthcare, behavioral health or human services settings
• Demonstrated experience in enterprise security program development, risk assessment, workplace
violence prevention and vendor management
• Experience managing multi-site security vendor contracts and security technology implementations


Preferred /Required Education:
High School or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, security management,
healthcare administration or related field strongly preferred. Master's degree in related field preferred. In some
cases, experience may be substituted for academic training. Certification as CHPA, CPP or PSP desirable.


Driving Requirements:
Driving is a requirement for this position using either a Vinfen van or personal vehicle. - If using a
personal vehicle, you must possess and maintain adequate insurance as well as maintain a safe driving
record which is subject to annual checks. A valid driver's license must be presented at the time of
employment. Incumbents must be at least 21 years of age, have maintained a valid US driver's license
for at least six months, and must be able to pass a driver's screening background check.

Pay Range

USD $100,000.00 - USD $130,000.00 /Yr.
