Overview

The MAP Training Specialist delivers Medication Administration Program (MAP) certification and recertification training to support the organization’s ability to maintain a MAP-certified workforce in alignment with MA Department of Developmental Services (DDS) and MA Department of Public Health (DPH) regulatory requirements. This role is responsible for facilitating MAP classes, preparing learners for certification exams, and providing remediation support as needed. Instruction is informed by learner performance data, preparatory testing, and trends in pass rates, ensuring that training meets both regulatory standards and workforce readiness needs. This is a non-supervisory role and does not carry audit, mentoring, or curriculum leadership responsibilities. This per diem position may have up to a 16-hour week.

Responsibilities

Instruction & Facilitation 
• Facilitates MAP certification, recertification, and preparatory sessions in accordance with state requirements and organizational standards. 
• Delivers learner-centered training using adult learning principles, clear instructional methods, and structured practice sessions. 
• Uses preparatory testing and learner assessment data to reinforce high-need areas and support exam readiness. 
Learner Support & Remediation 
• Provides structured feedback, coaching, and testing preparation to learners who require retesting or skill reinforcement. 
• Identifies and communicates trends in learner readiness or challenges to the Assistant Director of MAP Training Program. 
Training Administration & Documentation 
• Completes required training documentation, test score submissions, attendance records, and certification forms in accordance with DDS and DPH MAP standards. 
• Ensures records are accurate and submitted within required timeframes. 
Program Collaboration 
• Participates in MAP program team meetings, shares instructional observations, and reports learner data trends. 
• Supports training calendar execution, course scheduling, and resource coordination as assigned. 
Other 
• Performs related tasks as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills:
• Familiarity with MA DDS and MA DPH MAP requirements, medication safety practices, and compliance-driven training 
• Ability to facilitate adult learners and maintain instructional professionalism 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills 
• Experience in human services, healthcare training, or residential program environments 
• Experience supporting remediation, tutoring, or skills coaching 
• Experience with data-informed teaching or assessment-based instruction 
• Ability to effectively facilitate and lead training sessions 
• Ability to work in a professional and confidential capacity

Qualifications

Typical Requirements:
• Active RN license in the state of employment 
• Certified MAP Trainer 
• 1+ year experience delivering MAP or clinical training, OR 2+ years MAP-related field experience
(direct support, nursing, or human services environment)
Preferred /Required Education:
Associate's degree in Nursing required
Driving Requirements:
Driving is not required.
Physical Effort:
Administrative Roles - Ability to lift at least 25 pounds using proper lifting techniques.

Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment such as a calculator, copier, and printer.

Ability to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time as needed. Ability to bend, reach, file, sit, stand and move around the facility.

Ability to speak, hear and communicate with clients, staff and external representatives. 
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Pay Range

USD $40.00 - USD $40.00 /Hr.
