• Directs and manages the activities of program nursing staff (RNs and LPNs), including Certified Medical Assistants, and MAP certified staff members, when appropriate. In conjunction with the Program Director (PD) and operational leadership, screens and hires nursing staff as warranted following budgeted allocations. Utilizes staff appropriately with
the goal of optimizing effort, providing necessary medical/nursing care, and assists in achieving operational and financial goals.
• Manages staff performance. Provides direction, training, and coaching. Implements recognition/rewards programs, conducts performance planning and review sessions, and provides guidance on career development. Responsible for counseling and corrective action, when necessary. Offers clinical and nursing support and supervision to nurses
working at the CCS.
• Plans and conducts monthly nursing meetings on a regularly scheduled basis and on an as needed basis.
• In collaboration with Prescriber and PD, delegates nursing care assignments with an understanding of staff roles, knowledge, and capabilities.
• Ensures that the intake of new clients is completed in a timely, professional manner. Arranges and performs intake procedures and conducts initial holistic assessment to determine client’s appropriateness for program. Provides first aid when and if necessary and is responsible for responding to urgent or acute care matters to coordinate and delegate next steps. Provides initial and ongoing comprehensive assessment, care planning, interventions, and coordination of care for individuals in collaboration with the overseeing physician. Utilizing a variety of modalities ensures the client’s treatment
addresses the mental health care needs.
• Ensures the client’s medical care needs are appropriately and timely addressed.
• Provides supervision and direction to program staff regarding medical and psychiatric needs, treatment/support plans and interventions. Ensures rehabilitative strategies and techniques are incorporated. Participates in various internal and external meetings regarding treatment/support planning.
• Coordinates with multi-disciplinary teams for planning purposes to ensure comprehensive care plans are created that meet the individual client needs. Refers to specialists in the community when necessary while developing a professional community network. Maintains a healthy and collaborative team environment.
• Is an advocate for clients and, as applicable for the youth CCS, families/parents during community group meetings.
• Provides psychoeducation to clients (and families) related to medication management, health, and wellness. Assists in teaching clients (and caregivers) how to best manage client health conditions.
• Facilitates timely discharge when appropriate and creates an environment in which family, and established relationships of the client can be fostered. Communicates with individuals and families in a manner that conveys respect, care, and sensitivity. Manages comprehensive discharge planning that addresses the client’s needs for continued recovery.
• Provides problem resolution for staff and clients in collaboration with other community resources.
• Fosters teamwork and leadership in work groups. Serves as preceptor, role model, and change agent.
• Drafts new policies and procedures in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Nursing or Vice President of Nursing and PD as needed. Educates staff with new and updated policies and directives.
• Responsible for the quality and timely completion of documentation for all clients. Ensures recordkeeping is complete and in compliance with all clinical, medication administration, and service/support plans.
• Adheres to the Medication Security policy and ensures all medications are stored and locked properly.
• Ensures compliance with all internal quality and external licensing, certification and accreditation standards and regulations, as well as program specific policies and procedures.
• Represents Vinfen in professional, trade, regulatory, and funding source organizations; participates in committees, meetings, and other activities, as requested.
• Manages adverse events (such as medication occurrences and other critical incidents). Ensures plans and corrective actions are reported and implemented. Ensure all medication errors and incidents are documented and reported in a timely fashion to the PD, Medical Director and/or Assistant Director of Nursing/Vice President of Nursing.
• Responsible for scheduling the nursing, CMA staff and On Call coverage, ensuring proper and safe staffing. Provides on-call back-up and on-site support and intervention, when necessary.
• Stores, administers, documents, and disposes of medication for clients consistent with regulatory mandates, Massachusetts Nursing Practice ACT under the Board of Registration in Nursing (BORN) and MAP requirements, funding source regulations and Company polices and protocols. Also, delegates to unlicensed personnel when and if necessary
consistent with NPA. Ensures program compliance with Vinfen MAP protocols.
• Makes recommendations to ensure maintenance and safety of physical site.
• Performs other related duties, as required.

Typical Requirements:
• Five or more years of experience in serving individuals with mental health, substance use and/or co-occurring disorders in a fast paced clinical or facility setting.
• Previous supervisory experience required.
• Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills.
Preferred /Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN), MSN preferred.
