Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Schedule: TBD; hours falling between Monday-Friday 9am-5pm
Pay: $77.00 / hour


The Massachusetts Mental Health Center (MMHC), operated by the Department of Mental Health (DMH), seeks an experienced Advanced Practice Registered Nurse to serve as a full time Nurse Practitioner. The Nurse Practitioner will be at the forefront of ensuring the consistent and high-quality delivery of nursing services across the Center's various departments and clinics. This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, from providing pharmacological management, and caring for patients with chronic psychiatric conditions to coordinating multidisciplinary services for patients with complex psychiatric and medical needs as well as providing comprehensive mental health education. Responsibilities

Responsibilities also include:
Attends the clinic for the assigned hours of the position and informs the medical director of proposed
absences.
Arranges coverage for duties when away and provides coverage for absent colleagues.
Prescribes and monitors psychiatric medications as required for the appropriate treatment of patients'
conditions
Plans medication strategies based on individualized needs and preferences and with consideration of
potential barriers to or facilitators of adherence, side effects, and drug-drug interactions.
Contributes nursing perspective in clinical team meetings and consults on medical issues with team
members.
Provides on-call responsibilities, same-day triage, and consultation to patients, team members, and
residential staff as appropriate and needed.
Supervises trainees of various disciplines in psychopharmacology as required or assigned.
Teach the psychopharmacology didactic to master's level clinicians and participate in PGY-2 weekly
psychopharmacology didactics.
Coordinates care with other medical specialists and institutions
Perform other related duties, as required

Qualifications

Requirements/Preferences:
-Masters degree in Nursing is required
-Current and valid registration as a professional nurse under the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing.
-Current and valid authorization to practice as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing.
-Valid DEA License
-Valid Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registration (MCSR) License
-Three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience as a registered nurse in a recognized hospital, clinic, or medical facility
-History of using evidence-based therapies, interventions, and behavioral techniques in a community treatment setting.
-Knowledge of public and private community-based resources for patients
-Knowledge of the theories, principles, and practice of psychiatric advanced practice nursing.
-Experience with the diagnostic and treatment methods and techniques used in psychiatric advanced practice nursing.
-Capacity for patient care that is compassionate, appropriate, and effective for the treatment of mental health problems and the promotion of health.
-Medical knowledge about established and evolving biomedical, clinical, and cognate sciences (e.g., epidemiological and social-behavioral) and the application of this knowledge to patient care.
-Interpersonal and communication skills that result in effective information exchange and teaming with patients, their families, and other health professionals.
-Must be able to pass all applicable background checks

Pay Range

USD $77.00 - USD $77.00 /Yr.
