Overview

The Director of Learning and Development drives the Training Department in the dynamic design and delivery of training and employee development activities. Acts as trusted consultant to Vinfen leadership in training initiatives and campaigns. Continually seeks and implements novel methods and platforms to bring impactful and relevant training that will impact the care of those Vinfen serves.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements a learning strategy that better informs, trains, and support employees across all departments so that we continuously improve in fulfilling Vinfen’s mission.
  • Partners with Vinfen leadership on a regular basis to understand the needs of Vinfen learners so that relevant and practical training is developed to meet the particular learning and development needs of employees.
  • Directs and manages all activities of the Training Center, deploying staff as appropriate to their positions and talents to ensure optimal achievement of operational and financial goals.
  • Manages staff and provides direction, training, and coaching. Conducts performance planning and review sessions; provide guidance on career development. Applies counseling, disciplinary, and corrective action programs, as necessary.
  • Conducts needs assessments and recommends programs and resources for training sessions and development. Continually improves the training and development programs and systems.
  • Develops and implements training and development programs ranging from basic job competency skills to advanced academic curriculum.
  • Coordinates programs required for licensing/certification of needed credentials of direct care staff.
  • In collaboration with the Chief People Officer, prepares an annual budget to best meet the needs of Training Center activities.
  • Continuously improves the effectiveness of processes and procedures in order to enhance, expand or eliminate. In doing so, makes use of information systems to anticipate training needs and optimal geographic distribution of training activities.
  • Acts as consultant and advisor to managers, supervisors, and employees regarding training and development expansion and adoption.

Qualifications

Typical Requirements:

Seven to ten years’ experience in training and development. 

 

Preferred/Required Education:

Bachelors degree required; Master’s degree in education, training, or related field.
