Overview

Summary:
The Restoration Center (RC) Nurse Manager leads a team of nurses and medical assistants in the provision of community-based services within a continuum of care, for people impacted by mental health, substance use and co-occurring disorders. The Nurse Manager provides supervision to the nursing team, collaborates with the nursing/medical staff in all departments of the Restoration Center and CBHC programs, administers medications, coordinates medical care, takes vital signs, conducts risk assessments including assesses for signs of substance use withdrawal using, standardized tools (COWS/CIWA/CIWA-B) and assists the team with care coordination and discharge or transfer planning. The Nurse Manager is an integral part of the development and management of a model designed to support individuals in the community, reduce emergency room usage for behavioral health crises, increase flexibility of service delivery, provide seamless access to outpatient, urgent and crisis interventions, psychopharmacology, Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) and increased use of social supports and community-based staff.

Responsibilities

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Directs and supervises the work of the RC medical team including medical assistants and other medical support staff.
• Manages staff performance. Provides direction, training, and coaching; implements recognition and rewards programs; conducts performance planning and review sessions; provides guidance on career development. Responsible for counseling and corrective action programs, as necessary.
• Directs all aspects of the management of center medical facilities and equipment, including maintenance and ordering of clinic inventory, medications, and supplies.
• Promotes the use of evidence-based practices by nursing staff and ensures services meet regulatory agencies and accrediting organizations standards.
• Develops, implements, improves, and monitors policies, practices, protocols, policies, and infrastructure, including quality improvement and risk management to safely and effectively manage the care provided to Vinfen clients.
• Provides psychoeducation to clients related to medication management, health and wellness.
• Assists in teaching how to manage client health conditions (medical and mental) as needed.
• In collaboration with the CBHC care team and the client, develops treatment plan strategies and goals to address medical or co-occurring issues. Uses data to manage key metrics, such as completion of medical screenings, clinical assessment tools, vital signs, and coordination of holistic medical care.
• Ensures full knowledge of electronic health record/software and is responsible for training new staff and participation in sound documentation on an ongoing basis.
• Participates in and/or facilitates clinical rounds, provides clinical/medical consultation and expertise to all staff, and participates in team and discharge planning meetings.
• Conducts brief crisis counseling, individualized risk management and safety planning.
• Participates in Risk Review Meetings and Critical and Adverse Event Reviews, as identified and needed. • Identifies opportunities for programmatic initiatives including the development of initiatives to promote the health of individuals and families.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
 
Knowledge and Skills:
• Experience working in a community mental health and/or substance use clinic, federally qualified health center or similar setting
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team
• Comfortable using a computer and experienced working in an electronic health record, proficient in communicating effectively, both written and verbally, with varying audiences
• Familiar with MassHealth and managed care practices
• Ability to mentor and coach staff at all levels
• Demonstrates sensitivity to cultural, religious, racial, disability, and gender issues
• Knowledge of human, legal, civil rights, community, and other resources
• Utilizes evidence based best practices
• Promotes empowerment and self-advocacy techniques
• Knowledge of formal and informal assessment practices
• Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques
• Knowledge of documentation requirements
• Works well under pressure, meet multiple and often competing deadlines

Qualifications

Typical Requirements:
• Seven or more years’ experience serving individuals with mental health, substance use and/or co-occurring disorders in a fast-paced clinical or facility setting.
• Five or more years’ supervisory experience.
• Preferred /Required Education: Bachelor’s degree required; MSN preferred.
• Driving Requirements: Driving is not required.
• Physical Effort: Ability to lift at least 25 pounds using proper lifting techniques. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment such as a calculator, copier, and printer. Ability to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time as needed. Ability to bend, reach, file, sit, stand and move around the facility.
• Ability to speak, hear and communicate with clients, staff and external representatives.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
 
Preferred /Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree required; MSN preferred.

Administrative/Direct Care Roles - Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb as this is a very physically active position. Required Certifications/Trainings:
CPR within 2 weeks of hire
Required Credentials/Licenses:
RN license in state of service required.

Pay Range

USD $110,000.00 - USD $120,000.00 /Yr.
